Toasty and flavorful

When I’m in the right mood, I really like this tea. It’s toasty and nutty - very flavorful. But it’s not always what I want, since, to me, it doesn’t go that well with food and it’s a relatively strong flavor.

This is just top quality tea all around. The flavor is strong but not too strong, and tastes amazing even after steeping for 30+ mins like I usually do with all my green teas (I like it strong). It almost has a hint of chocolate and is just very flavorful and full bodied. Huge pleasure to drink. Also, less caffeine. I usually drink gunpowders for reference and have been a loyal customer for over a decade.

I hate this tea. (And I am an easy customer. I love the other Upton teas.) I find it hard to believe that it is even a green tea. It looks brown before it is steeped; looks brown afterwards; and even tastes brown. Kamakura Organic? It should be named "Kamikaze Organic". It came in the SJ 01 sampler. I called and try to switch it out in my next order but Upton would not because their tins are shrink- wrapped into the samplers. So no sampler for me.

I've been mixing Hoji-Cha Kamakura evenly with one of your black teas--usually an orange pekoe or something similar--for several years. It makes a wonderful breakfast tea, with honey & milk. If I forget to bring along a custom linen tea bag when I travel, I'm always disappointed in the teas offered by relatives or restaurants. Easy to get spoiled with Upton!
