Yunnan Zi Juan Congou

The average rating for this product is 5 out of 5 stars 11 Reviews
This unique purple tea offering, “Zi Juan,” meaning “purple beauty,” originates from a purple bud varietal that was developed at the Menghai Research Station in Yunnan province. The purple-brown leaves have been loosely rolled and produce a dark amber liquor with a pronounced stone fruit aroma. The cup is smooth and sweet with a jammy/juicy character that hints of red wine. A suggestion of almond/nutty nuances leads to a clean finish.

Not into Congou? Think Again.
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I thought again, after drinking this one. Now it is my favorite black tea that doesn't take milk. Take that, Margaret's Hope! (Ok,ok—they really can't be compared).

A Truly Distinctive Tea
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

This tea is better that it's description and includes evergreen notes. Pricey but worth every penny. Keenan Hal Ya A will always be my favourite but this one is really good too.

For me, a perfect morning tea
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

My habit is to rise early in the morning and have a cup of tea. This is before that first cup of coffee and before breakfast. I'll have tea again on the evening with dessert. Coffee is great with breakfast and the lighter teas are fine with dessert. This tea needs nothing to accompany it. This is the tea that I want to drink all by itself when it's nothing but me, a new day and a cup of tea.

Unique
This shopper rated the product 4 out of 5 stars

This unusual tea could be a cross between a black tea and oolong. Fragrant and sweet with notes of passion fruit and brown sugar (or malt). Smooth but slightly bitter when cool. Brewed a fine second cup. Good afternoon tea. It is a "purple bud" tea selected and grown by tea researchers in Yunan. Interesting write-ups on line.
