What do we mean by the term “single-estate tea”? Quite simply, it describes a limited lot that has been produced from tea leaves grown in one specific area of a tea estate in a specific harvest year. In other words, not a blend that can be replenished. Tea blends, which contain tea leaves from different locations, are created to achieve a certain flavor profile that can be reproduced. Single-estate teas and their individual, one-of-a-kind flavor profiles, like fine single-vineyard wines, are influenced by their terroir (pronounced “tare-wah”) — a combination of factors such as region, soil and water quality, sunlight, and climate/weather, at the given time they’re grown.

Each single-estate tea has a special and unique flavor profile all its own. We purchase each lot in a limited quantity and when that tea sells out, that specific lot no longer exists. That being said, with our wide array of single-estate teas, our Tea Consultants are delighted to assist you in finding a new tea with a comparable flavor. Single-estate teas make our tea journeys dynamic and exciting as we anticipate what each new season will bring. We are dedicated to bringing you the very best single-estate teas to enjoy from each season. We encourage you to sample from our New Arrivals and have your own cupping to compare and contrast the delicious, complex flavors that single-estate teas have to offer.
