Memorial Day Honors and Iced Tea

Posted on 05/22/2024

Memorial Day is a day that most Americans look forward to as the official start of summer, but this day is so much more than a season kick-off.

This is a day that we, as a nation, honor those U.S. military personnel who have sacrificed so much throughout history to keep us a free nation, a nation of opportunity and dreams. These courageous individuals have made the greatest sacrifice one can make. Their bravery has allowed us to live a free life, to follow our pursuit of knowledge, and to live to our greatest potential. Without the selflessness of these heroic men and women, we may not have our basic rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Celebrated since 1868, Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day, when loved ones would decorate the graves of those lost. Moving forward to the day we now know as Memorial Day, the last Monday in May formally became a nationwide holiday in 1971 with the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

To commemorate and honor our fallen soldiers, we usually start this holiday with memorials and parades, then move on to barbeques with family and friends.  As you begin your celebrations this Memorial Day, please take a moment of silence to remember all those who made your BBQ possible.

As you celebrate, be it at a BBQ or a town parade, make some lasting memories while staying cool with refreshing iced tea!

While you can ice any of your favorite teas, we have curated a list of teas especially delicious on ice. Enjoy!
