Known in China as Qimen Hong Cha, or “Qimen red tea,” Keemun is prized for its refined fragrance and smooth, complex flavor. Depending on the grade and style, the cup may reveal notes of Burgundy, earth, cocoa, honey, dried fruit, and a delicate hint of wood or smoke, creating an elegant character sometimes described as the distinctive “Keemun aroma.” Traditionally made with carefully worked, slender leaves, Keemun became especially popular in Europe and has historically been used in some English Breakfast tea blends. Today, styles such as Keemun Gongfu, Mao Feng, and Hao Ya showcase the remarkable range of this classic tea, from brisk and richly aromatic to delicately floral and naturally sweet.
