Mincing Lane Breakfast Blend

5 star average rating

For this blend, we paired a hearty Assam with a smooth and flavorful Yunnan, for a cup that is highly enjoyable. The invigorating liquor has a full mouth feel, subtle spicy notes, and a lingering aftertaste. While milk is recommended, it is enjoyable plain.

  • This tea will forever banish my doubts about blends. I love Yunnan tea, and combining it with the Assam adds a thick, velvety cushion to the classic Yunnan flavor that makes this tea so satisfying. I think it's my new favorite daily tea!

  • This has been one of my favorite breakfast blends. I steep it the full five minutes and add a touch of milk. As others have mentioned, there really is a subtle smokiness which is unexpected but I love. Maybe some earthiness too. It certainly rich and gets the morning going. I am amazed at how quickly I use up my supply.

  • I had a hard time zeroing in on a preparation of this blend that worked for me. It typically tasted like a blonde tobacco; sweetish and floral which wasn’t the earthy, spicy thing I was after.

  • I have not tried a breakfast tea for some time, and I am at the bottom of my sample wishing I had a larger bag! This is lovely! Thank you!

  • I drink tea very strong, with whole milk and sugar. This is delicious that way. It has the balanced flavor, though, that would make it delicious black as well. This is the tea I've been looking for!

  • I'm not much a fan of the broken leaves in many blends since they impart too much astringency and bitterness for my taste. I was glad to see that the Mincing Lane Breakfast was full and large leaves. This blend is very well made and emphasizes the malty flavors of the Assam and the slighty peppery and cocoa-y full body of the Yunnan

  • It's a little toasty-malty, a little smoky, a little peppery, a tiny bite. I like this tea with milk, gives it a nice nutty rounded taste, but the tiny spiciness brightens it up. I like assam/yunan blend. I had a Fauchon blend many years ago that was so good it took my breath away. I have been looking to replace it ever since. This is close.

  • This is the only English Breakfast blend I like both with and without milk. Classic flavor, but there is a subtle smokiness, that makes this more interesting. I generally can't handle smoky tea, but find this one truly exceptional.

  • This is the first Yunnan blend I've tried in a long time, but I find I just don't like Yunnan because it tastes bitter to me at any steeping time. I'm sure it's a fine blend, but it's not for me.

  • This is a really well-balanced blend with a bit of brightness at the finish that makes it perfect for breakfast. I love it with a splash of cream. I have tried many different black blends, but this is a favorite!

  • Mincing Lane has been one of the favorites teas of our household for many years. It is at once bracing and subtle, an envigorating breakfast tea, pleasing with or without milk.
