Great Organic Assam Tea
Christine – MA – May 24, 2020

I like strong organic Assam tea but finding a good organic Assam tea can be difficult. It's not any more. This is a fantastic organic Assam tea and for the price it is OUTSTANDING! I purchased several 200 g packets but then saw it was running out so I purchased an 800 g bag. This is the only Assam I'm using now so I will purchase another 800 g bag.

Medium bitterness, light tannins/dryness, very little flavor with hints of honey. Best when blended with a fruit tisane like rote grutze.

Great tea to start your morning

My go to cup in the morning, rich & malty and a fantastic price!

Terrific robust deliciousness
Jody – MA – September 21, 2019

I'm a committed Strong Black Tea drinker, and prefer organic. My mainstay is Upton's Organic English Breakfast Blend. This new Season's Pick Assam is outstanding: when I finished my sample packet I found I missed it, a sure sign of a winner! Robustly yum on its own or with cream. Just ordered a whole bunch!

Cacao nibs, honey and malt
Sherry – AK – September 11, 2019

Such a lovely Assam for the price! It has both the flavors and aromas of honey, cacao, and malt simply delicious. Has a full mouth feel which can be rare in organic tea. It's delicious alone or as part of a blend I'm currently enjoying it mixed with the Organic China Black FOP divine!

Good Assam organic
Yocheved – NY – September 06, 2019

Great taste, but lots of caffeine. Watch out. It packs a punch!

Wow, really good and a great price
Alice – CA – May 05, 2019

I have been exploring some Assam teas and recently purchased this one. Boy am I glad I did. The aroma of the dried tea remindes me of a rich pipe tabacco, earthy and sweet. I also love the color of the dry leaves--a dusty blacker than black. Brew is rich and smooth, I don't have to add milk but can. Not bitter even steeped at 5 minutes.

Extra: Far Better Than it Should Be
Chris – CA – April 28, 2019

"Season's Pick" is Upton's budget line of teas. Opening the bag, you get a forward aroma of honey, something usually found in the more pedigreed Assams. It's smooth, moderately malty, and sweet. You have to search for gold flowers in the bag though. I weighed it at 1.6 grams/level teaspoon, so use 1.5 teaspoons per cup, & steep for 4.5 minutes.

Notes of Chocolate
Sean – IL – March 07, 2019

I'm always very harsh on cheaper teas, rarely above 3/5 marks. But I absolutely love a malty and sweet cup of black tea, and you can taste notes of chocolate and cocoa in the ruby red liquor. The bag by default comes 200g and at $0.11 a cup, so cheap is that I can't help but absolutely love this tea. You'll be glad on how much they give you.

Brisk, good flavor, not bitter
Jill – WA – March 05, 2019

I like a strong black tea with a distinct flavor since I drink it with lots of milk, but without the bitterness that often comes with strong teas. This one measures up.

Great Every Day
Harriet – NY – January 29, 2019

This has become my everyday morning tea. I think it's the best tea for the price.

Best assam we ever tried!
Andy – VT – December 15, 2018

Absolutely LOVE this tea!.. We drink a lot of Upton Assam and think this is the best we ever had! Malty and hardy. We served it at a party today and every single person commented on how good it was and asked where to get it.

Smooth Morning Cuppa
Alexander – CA – October 24, 2018

Number one go-to for the morning cup. Good flavor, not astringent, great with milk. Great value for organic.

Very Good Choice
Mr.Doubrava – IL – September 23, 2018

This is a really good selection for people like me who prefer a medium-to-full bodied Assam. The brew is not excessively tannic, but is still rich. I suggest brewing about three and a half minutes for a cup that is full of varietal flavor, yet devoid of bitterness, and perfect for drinking neat, without milk. A great everyday black assam.

Another Winner
elf – NY – August 06, 2018

A bold leaf Assam, with marvelous flavor, that makes for a terrific afternoon break. As it's a bigger leaf, I use my large infuser ('Perma Brew' Pot Size Infuser - AI23) instead of my smaller one (Perma-Brew Cup Infuser - AI20) to allow the leaves more room to bloom. I keep a small supply of this in my office for "those" days.

Brisk, Clean and Round
Sensado Tea – HI – July 02, 2018

Aromatic black, typical Assam, with hints of caramel and stone fruits. Subtle tannins complementing the aroma.

Really good, nice with milk
Mary Pat – MA – May 25, 2018

I like this tea with milk. It's a great tea taste without a lot of tannins. I'm no expert, but I know what I like. And this is it.

Organic and that is a plus, use with milk and maybe sugar, 50
chris – AZ – May 19, 2018

Maybe an average Assam for the ones I have had, never had a $30 for 100gm assam so maybe I just don't know what a great assam is. I lived in India and we made it really strong, the teas were usually not high quality do to people not being rich in india. The taste was good cause of the cardamon fresh ground and spices and strong buffalo milk.

After trying many teas I found that I prefer Assam, especially in the morning. Like a former reviewer, I am not versed in the language, but I find this seasons pick especially smooth and pleasing no matter the strength of the "cuppa". Thank you Upton!

cs – VT – March 14, 2018

I don't know the language of tea, but this is unbelievably tasty. My favorite after shifting from this to that for many years.

Tim – NY – October 09, 2017

This makes for a smooth cup of Assam. It is not very malty, but has some tannins and a light to moderate flavor intensity. There is a little woody/leafy taste to it.
