Japanese Tea
Tea has been a vital part of Japan's heritage and culture for hundreds of years. The Japanese tea ceremony - which celebrates green matcha tea - is one of the most elaborate and sacred tea ceremonies in the world. Today, Japan is known around the globe for its clean, light green tea. Japan also produces high quality black teas and flavored teas.
Choose from a wide variety of premium loose leaf Japanese teas such as Matcha, Sencha, Gabalong, and Gyokuro in organic and comventional varieties. Japanese tea samplers and full ceremony sets also available.


Sencha Yabukita Organic
This organic selection from Kirishima, in Kagoshima prefecture, is crafted from the Yabukita cultivar and usually reserved for the domestic market. The mouth feel has a decidedly brothy character, and the flavor has a classic "umami" aspect. A superb specimen of this style and grade.


Fukamushi Cha Organic
This organic offering was grown using the Saemidori cultivar in Miyazaki prefecture, located on the island of Kyushu. Both the leaf and cup have a deep, dark green color and heady, rich aroma. The exquisite liquor has sweet, vegetal notes, a brothy mouth feel and pleasing, light astringency. The leaves are typical of the Fukamushi (deep steam) style, with both larger and small leaf pieces.

Kagoshima Kabuse Sencha
This top quality Kabuse Sencha is crafted in Kagoshima prefecture, located in the southern part of Kyushu. Processed in the traditional style, the leaves are shaded for the last 2-3 weeks before harvest. The result is a flavorful, brothy cup, with a sweet character and full, clean aftertaste. Produced from the Okumidori cultivar.


Gyokuro Organic
Limited lots of organic Gyokuro tea are produced each year. This lot has smooth umami notes, a rich cup and a clean, sweet finish. It was grown in Miyazaki prefecture using the Yabukita cultivar. We are happy to offer this tea while our current supply lasts.


Culinary Matcha Organic
This organic selection was made specifically for use as an ingredient in smoothies, ice cream, baked goods, lattes, or anything else one's creativity can conjure up. Produced in the Uji prefecture of Japan and NOP certified. Packet design may vary.


Japanese Matcha Gen-mai Cha Organic
This extraordinary grade of Matcha Gen-mai Cha is seldom seen outside of Japan. The components are of exceptional quality, and produce a harmonious, well-balanced infusion, which is eminently smooth. Toasted rice add a soothing, mellow quality to the complex vegetal flavor.


Bancha First Grade Organic
First grade Bancha, produced during peak season, is a tea with herbaceous aroma, smooth character, and pale jade liquor. This organic tea has a full mouth feel, bright cup, and clean finish.

Gyokuro (lit. Jewel Dew)
The finest Japanese green tea, only shade-grown tips are used for Gyokuro. Prized for its delicate flavor and natural sweetness.

Sencha Special Grade Yamato
A superior grade of Sencha, with a brighter flavor and smoother finish than basic Sencha. Highly recommended.

Japanese Sencha
Delicate but brisk, this splendid loose leaf sencha green tea has a clean vegetal flavor. Rapidly gaining the recognition it deserves, this Japanese sencha tea refreshes the palate with a hint of sweetness.


Ho-ji Cha Kamakura Organic
This roasted, organic tea is produced from first grade, bold-leaf Bancha. The flavorful infusion has a rich character, with complex, toasty notes.

Gen-mai Cha
Literally, Gen-mai Cha means brown rice tea. Toasted and partially puffed rice is blended with large-leaf Sencha.
