Green tea is a category of tea made from the unoxidized leaves of Camellia sinensis plant. Unlike other varieties of tea, green tea leaves are heated shortly after harvest to halt the oxidation process, usually by steaming or pan-firing. This process is what allows the leaves to retain their green character. It also results in a light-bodied cup when compared to other types of tea, such as black teas. Green tea has a mild vegetal or grassy flavor that may have floral, fruity, earthy, nutty, or other tasting notes. Loose leaf green tea is grown around the world, but most imports come from China and Japan. With a clean, refreshing flavor, our loose leaf green teas may be enjoyed at any time of day. Choose from a wide variety of organic loose leaf green teas, including sencha, Jasmine green tea, hojicha, genmaicha, and ceremonial matcha.
