The wiry, ebony-brown leaves of this premium loose leaf Congou black tea from Fujian province produce a very dark amber liquor with an enticing cocoa aroma. The smooth, rich cup tastes of premium dark chocolate accented by a whisper of spice. The finish is long and lingering with nuances of toffee. This decadent treat is the perfect accompaniment to dessert.

  • Not a huge connissieur here, but I bought a nice Oolong, an Estate Assam, a gorgeous Darjeeling and this tea as kind of a lark, and it turned out to be my favorite by far. With early spring honey from my beehives, and plenty of cream the FUJIAN MINHONG GONGFU CONGOU is luxury in a porcelain cup! I bought more.

  • This tea was a surprise to me, quite different from my usual choices of Darjeeling, English breakfast blends, or sometimes Assam or Keemun. I like a tea with some personality and this fits the bill though it's also quite nuanced. Definitely get the cocoa in the nose and lingering chocolate at the end but the main flavors to me are warm grain/twig.
  • Surprising and tasty!

  • This was an experiment for me, not my usual tea style. The cocoa notes people mention initially strike my palate as almost smoky. The finish is more mellow, almost like milk chocolate crossed with a more typical Assam or Keemum. Definitely an enticing and subtle flavor.

  • When I first tried this tea the strong cocoa notes made me think "I will never but this tea again!" However, since first impressions can be wrong, I gave it a few more tries. Thank goodness I did! It is an amazing tea which quickly grew on me. One can get multiple brewing and with each slight nuances come through. I am buying a tin!

  • I finally purchased a gaiwan and so ordered a sample of this tea to try as my first experience. Amazing! I did multiple steeps and so many flavors emerged. Also made it in traditional teapot. Highly recommend especially for the aroma.

  • When i read the descriptions for the new collection of Boston Harbor teas, I knew I had to try them! I love a deeply flavored tea, and this does not disappoint! It is quite different from my usual Assam or Darjeelings, and while I usually stop at half a cup I could not help but drink the entire thing! Excellent in my world, Thank You Upton!!

  • This tea is so good it's deserving of a write up! First of all if my tea knowledge serves me correctly the Gongfu distinction means it's used for the Chinese Gongfu tea ceremony which means you should get many steepings from the tea. I have gotten three flavorful steepings! I love the strong cocoa notes and molasses notes, plum back notes as well.
