Lukwah Estate TGFOP1 Assam

A high concentration of downy golden tips complements the bold, well-formed leaves of this 2019 Assam selection. A hint of sweetness enhances the rich malty aroma, setting the stage for a thick, cocoa-like quality in the smooth, copper-amber liquor. Notes of dried fruit are followed by whispers of oak and dry red wine, all lingering into the brisk finish.

Meh...
Barry – MN – April 10, 2020

This is a gorgeous tea to look at, clearly made with care. Well-curled leaves with abundant tips. Considerable astringency though, which for neat-drinking purposes is better managed at four minutes. Five might be OK with milk, but is otherwise an over-steep. Nice aroma, something on the palate is missing. Not getting the complex descriptors.

I already reviewed, but on having a few more cups, I feel that it has a roasted chestnut quality to it more than a smokey oak. I still love this tea, but I think roasted chestnuts really nail the description of the flavor of this tea.

My new favorite!

I don't always agree with the Upton description of teas. However, this one is spot on. My description: Dear God, this is good! This tea is smooth, rich, almost creamy, slightly malty with a hint of cocoa. Barely any dryness/tannins until the finish, and then it is very light. The finish is slightly smoky with whispers of dry red wine in oak barrels
