Season's Pick Korean Woojeon Green Tea

5 star average rating

Grown on the volcanic island of Jeju in South Korea, this first flush green tea produces a sparkling yellow-jade liquor with a sweet vegetal aroma. Woojeon translates to “before the rains,” referring to its early spring harvest before the monsoon rains. A pronounced umami flavor is balanced by a lovely sweetness that lingers into the finish.

  • Picked this one because it originates from Jeju Island just like my family. It's very easy to drink and one of my go-tos. As another person said, there is a light minerality that is reminiscent of seaweed. This makes the tea different enough to be interesting without being off-putting.

  • Being Korean, I wanted to try this green tea from Korea. Glad I did. It has distinct vegetal flavor that is not overpowering and great mouth feel. I will be ordering more!

  • Pleasant vegetal taste/flavor. Not too strong but not weak either. Might be reminiscent of seaweed, if one doesn't mind that type of flavor. I would say it leans more towards jasmine than sencha.
