This organic Sencha offering comes from Kagoshima prefecture in southern Japan. Crafted from the Saemidori cultivar, the emerald green leaves produce a pale yellow-jade liquor with a clean aroma and rich buttery quality. With a fresh savory flavor reminiscent of steamed spring greens, the cup feels soft and silky on the palate. A smooth, lingering finish completes an outstanding tea experience.

A 2-min. brew produces a faint suggestion of sweetness followed by crisp, clean umami and green, reminding me of fresh asparagus. Buttery texture, and finishes with a pleasing lingering mild astringency. The effect is similar to the "whoosh" you get with mint. A 3-min. brew brings out more of the green notes. This one is a winner!

Rich umami scent with grassy notes, clear bright green liquor. Smooth, rounded, buttery mouth-feel. Steeps twice with fairly robust flavor, third time for lighter flavor more like a white. Minimal to no bitterness/astringency brewed at 155-165F. If it has flaws I can't taste them. Reordered after received as a gift.
