This selection is handcrafted from a bold-leaf Yunnan varietal. The dry leaves are tightly rolled into a spiral snail shape, dark in color, with golden tip accents. The smooth cup is rich and full-bodied with notes of bittersweet cocoa and carob, as well as the classic Yunnan spice hints.
This is a decent Yunnan but lacks the complexity and subtle undernotes of other Yunnans which I do enjoy. For this reason, I would hesitate to purchase again.

This tea is great for backpacking. The balls are compact and easy to store. Measuring is simpler and cleaner than leaf tea. The tea itself is mild and not bitter, so you don't need milk, which can be difficult to use on the trail. I suppose CTC type teas would be even more compact, but I usually associated those with morning teas needing milk.

I had fun comparing the Yunnan and Fujian versions of this tea. Although my supply for each was a bit older, and not purchased at the same time, so maybe not a fair contest. The Yunnan was more tannic, muddy flavor and less lively overall. Worth a try again with fresher tea.

I like this tea. It is fully bodied and full of flavor. I like my black tea with milk and honey and it is excellent in this.

Two pots into this packet -- prepared in accord with Upton's guidance -- and I am very pleased with this purchase. This delivers a fragrant, smooth, and sweet cup without bitterness or tannin. What's more, it's a solid "any time" tea, and I've enjoyed it morning and afternoon. It does seem to perform above its price point. Will order again.
Excellent full bodied flavor for the price!

I tried this tea on a whim and it is now one of my absolute favorites! It has that wonderful smoky-keemuny-finish that eludes description. I used to work at a tea shop and I know that the flavor of this usually goes for 2-3 times the price. I was delightfully surprised and highly recommend for Keemun and Yunnan fans.
