Fujian Black Snail

In this selection from Fujian province, glossy dark brown leaves with downy gold tips have been loosely rolled into the distinctive snail shape characteristic of this tea style. The dark ruby-copper cup has a full mouth feel evocative of rich sweet cocoa, with a warm toasty presence that lingers into the finish.

Mild and sweet, better than the Yunnan black snail?
Alice – CA – May 22, 2019

I had fun comparing the Fujian and Yunnan versions of this tea. Although my supply for each was a bit older, and not purchased at the same time, so maybe not a fair contest. I liked the cheaper, Fujian black snail better in all aspects: more aroma, sweeter flavor, ligher color. The Yunnan was more tannic, muddy flavor and less lively overall.
