Lapsang Souchong Imperial

The best China Lapsang Souchong we have found. To our knowledge, we are the only importer of this grade of loose leaf China Lapsang Souchong tea. Superior in flavor. Very smoky, yet quite mellow.

  • Never knew what this tea would taste like. Took a shot. The Smokey fragrance alone from the bag was inviting. The taste was one I fell in love with and have been drinking it ever since. Do at times mix a little green tea with it. Makes a nice touch to the end of the day. Some people have written outer space experiences. Its just tea not LSD.

  • My husband and I have been drinking this tea for years. Usually, it's just been during the colder months, but this year it's been every night, every season. You have to drink this tea really hot; I let it seep for 7 minutes; two heaping teaspoons per 12 oz mug. I find it verrrry calming; almost medicinal. A nightcap to a long day and a big dinner.

  • Pretty intensely smoky, which is great if that's mainly what you're looking for. Don't expect nuance, the base tea is pretty weak and the smoke overpowers all else. I prefer smokiness to compliment the tea, which isn't the case at all here, so only two stars from me. I sometimes throw a few leaves in with other black teas and it adds a nice touch.

  • I've tried many Lapsangs but the Imperial is my favorite. Every time I drink another variety I ask myself...why didn't I just stick with what I love? Far richer and smokier than the other Lapsangs and yet somehow smoother. So glad I can buy this tea. Been sipping on it for years.

  • This tea was my first Smokey tea and having heard very mixed reviews of lapsang souchang, I was somewhat worried that I would not enjoy it much. However I found this tea to be truly delightful! It has a rich campfire taste with scents of smoked meat. I found it did not pair as well with plain sugar or honey but sweetened perfectly with maple syrup

  • Has an distinct unique smokey campfire taste. I enjoyed the sample cup, and will order more. I'm not sure if after several cups, the smokey flavor will be something I still love or be annoyed with. I added a small touch to a green tea I was drinking, essentially blending teas, and it added a hint of smoke, which added a delicious element.

  • If you like smoky teas, you'll love this one. The scent is so strong that my wife always thought I was eating smoked meat whenever I drank it. Really delicious.

  • This lapsang souchong is great. Smoky and flavorful to enjoy a small cup but smooth enough to drink a whole thermos.
  • An Acquired Taste

  • Like the idea of drinking tea around a campfire? Bingo! I'd call it an acquired taste, although as the reviews here attest it has its enthusiastic fans. Whether the evident smokiness appeals will be purely subjective. While the tea itself seems of fine quality, to my taste buds it barely peeks out from behind the veil of smoke. Sample first.

  • One of the best Souchongs I have tried so far. Very rich, smoky flavor with a tiny bit of sweetness.
  • Smokey in scent, not taste.

  • Unlike other reviewers, I felt this one not so smokey but very pleasant indeed. this was my first Suchong so I don't know exactly what to expect. However, I had some experiences in smokey teas for their taste and I was not a big fan of them, this tea was very pleasing. The taste is very clean and mellow with a nice touch of the smoked food.

  • This has outstanding depth of flavour as well a big fat smokey punch. Very special, you can taste the quality. Some of the less premium teas are all smoke and no tea, whereas this has them nicely aligned. I am a big fan of smokey tastes and love this stuff, but some friends have shied away, unimpressed.

  • Definitely for those who crave strong flavors, and perhaps not suitable for all ladies. Like discovering a true Czech pilsner after years of drinking "Lite" beer - you can never go back. I too have tried numerous Lapsang variants and this is the most robust and distinctive of them all. A morning imperative!
  • The best Lapsang I have ever had!

  • When they say smoky, they mean it. The description is quite accurate. I try every Lapsang I can get my hands on, and none are better than this!

  • I love this Tea. This Tea has its own special cup in my home. This is my go to Tea when I want to take a journey with a beloved book or sit by the fire and go down memory lane. Not bitter, nice smell and taste.
