Hong Tao Keemun

A mellow tea in the style of An Hui province Keemun, with classic Burgundy cup character and mild smoky note. The liquor is smooth, with a lingering sweet finish.

Nice strong black tea
Talia – NM – September 12, 2019

I made a project of buying all the China Keemun teas to see which I liked best. This one is a nice bold tea, with a sweetness about it, but I feel it lacks a lot of the smokiness I expect of a Keemun. It might be a nice tea to blend with a milder Keemun to get a balance of strength and smoke. As a general black tea it's very nice.

Lion Mountain Replacement
Alexander – CA – October 24, 2018

Back when Peet's was still Peet's and carried a real assortment of loose teas in their stores, I developed a strong liking for their Lion Mountain Keemun. Mellow but deep, with an almost malty sweetness. This is the one for cold mornings when the throat feels a bit rough and Lapsang isn't the thing.
