Rich and lusty, this smoky tea has a mellow aftertaste. A bit smokier than the China variety.

  • I've had Lapsang Souchoungs that almost taste artificially smokey -- this is not one of them. The smoky isn't overpowering but enhances the natural, bold flavor of the tea itself. The aroma of the cup is divine! Can take well with a bit of honey, too.
  • Maybe OK, but not as rich as the Imperial.

  • I compared this with the China Imperial and much preferred the latter which had a richer, smokier-yet-smooth taste. I had been trying to find the closest thing to an old variety of Formosa Lapsang no longer sold by Upton Tea. My husband and I both clearly preferred the China Imperial. Using double the amount of tea might have helped.

  • Better and more nuanced than is human affection, and far easier to procure.

  • If you like a rich smoky cup of Lapsang Souchong, this tea will not disappoint. We enjoy a lot of this tea in our house. The only reason for four and not five stars is that I have to add more tea than any other that I steep. For 12 ounces of water I use two big teaspoons. For most other teas, I only use one. But, I am back for more!
