Lovely mellow tea for a autumn evening
Mary – VA – October 20, 2019
This has been sitting in my cupboard for a while - as a sample I had received. Pulled it out on a chilly autumn evening recently for a friend and I. Absolutely lovely. Slight honey taste, smooth, mellow. I saved the small bag to order more, only to find out that it was out of stock! Definitely hope more is available soon.

I too received a bonus packet of Nandi Royal OP, and was surprised by its flavor. I'm not particularly useful on the aroma of tea, but Nandi Royal is a surprising mix of what I'll call sweet and tart. It seems different from Assam, which, in my taste, tends toward mellow while this Kenyan tea veers toward brisk. Definitely a subtle and complex tea.

This produced a medium amber cup. Very smooth, some fruit, possibly apple definitely more than just honey. This is stronger than the medium appearance would suggest.

This Kenyan tea is brisk, and has a vague nutty taste after it lingers on the tongue. My sniffer doesn't work at 100% so I couldn't get a particular aroma from the brewed product. It is a medium-bodied black tea that's easy to enjoy, although I add a teaspoon of milk. Wasn't holding out much hope for this sample I received, but it surprises.

All the Kenyan teas that I have tasted in the past were commercial brands in teabags. I received a sample pack of Nandi Royal Kenyan OP and was very pleased with the slightly sweet briskness of the tea. I usually favor Indian Assams or Chinese Keemuns but I will definitely order this tea as a great afternoon pick-me-up brew.

Nandi Royal OP came as a bonus sample with our last order. So glad! This is a beautiful smooth black tea, slightly sweet. We added milk and sugar, but should have reduced the sugar. The pricing makes this very appealing. I hope I'm not offending anyone but we found it very similar to our favorite Irish Breakfast, minus the floral notes.

While I'm saddened by the size of the tea leaves (I think they should put a quarter in the photos of the leaves for size reference). This tea has a very complex aroma which is best described as a sweet acidity like honey, but with earthen kicks like the scent of cloves. Although these scents don't transfer into taste, this tea is a full package!

Several years ago I bought a black tea from Kenya which I loved but which is no longer available. I personally like whole leaf teas, so I decided to try this one, and it is wonderful. I have to use a heaping teaspoon to get a medium strength tea, and that is how I prefer it.
Excellent Tea, Superb value

Smooth and rich while not being too heavy, this black tea is absolutely fantastic for a daily drinker. Not only is the price fantastic but the description is dead on. Will be re-purchasing when I run out. Love it!
Much Like Livingstonia Estate, Tanzania

We sorely miss the LIvingstonia Estate tea, Tanzania. We love the Assams, and the better African teas resemble them sans the maltiness. The Livingstonia tea had a delicate camphor overtone that greatly added to the elegance and enjoyment of the tea without overwhelming it with novelty. This new Nandi Royal tea does the same thing, perhaps better.
