Matcha tea is an integral part of the auspicious Japanese Tea Ceremony, known as Cha-no-yu. Prized for its rich vegetal flavor and vibrant green color, ancient Japanese poets often referred to Matcha as "froth of the liquid jade." To achieve the powdered texture that Matcha is famous for, green tea leaves are steamed and dried as Tencha (pre-Matcha), then de-stemmed and de-veined to prepare the tea for grinding into very fine particles. Matcha tea is traditionally prepared by whisking this powdered green tea into hot water, creating a delicious froth. After preparing, we recommend that you whisk your cup periodically to ensure an even distribution of the Matcha tea powder.
