Used in Cha-no-yu, the Japanese tea ceremony, Matcha is a powdered form of the highly valued Gyokuro. Tencha leaves (the storage form between Gyokuro and Matcha) are mechanically ground into very fine particles. Prized for its rich vegetal flavor, Matcha tea is prepared by stirring the powder into hot water, creating a delicious froth. Ancient poets often referred to Matcha tea as "froth of the liquid jade." Whisk the cup periodically to avoid settling of the Matcha powder and enjoy!
