Old South Meeting House Breakfast Blend

5 star average rating
11 Reviews Write a Review
A mélange of China Bohea and Congou black teas creates this hearty breakfast blend, perfect for your morning cup. Notes of earth and red wine are complemented by a toffee sweetness in the fragrant aroma. The dynamic flavor profile features notes of earth, semi-sweet cocoa, and oak Burgundy, enveloped by a rich syrupy dark sweetness that lingers into the finish.

  • I always browse the new black teas when I'm ordering a new batch. When this tea came up, I knew I had to try it and I'm so glad I did! Its deep, bold flavors remind me of the first French roast I ever tasted -- delicious, instantly comforting, and bracing all at once. My husband and I both love it.

  • Based on reviews I thought I would try this new blend, as I enjoy a bold morning tea that can hold its milk. I was sorely disappointed. The smokey aroma overwhelms the cup, leaving little else to enjoy. Along with the steep price, I'm not impressed. I'll stick with the Leadenhall Street Breakfast Blend - a bold, flavorful, balanced tea.

  • Fell in love with this tea after a first cup. Very gentle sweet and sour fruity flavor. No bitterness even you brewing longer than recommended.

  • This is unquestionably the best breakfast blend I've ever had. It tastes like warm buttered toast with a hint of jam. I hope Upton continues to offer it - I can't imagine a morning without it.

  • I tried this tea on a whim when I saw the description in your recent catalog. It is now my absolute favorite and I live in fear that you will stop making it. It is smooth and rich and somewhat addictive. Thank you!

  • I’ve tried dozens of Upton teas and enjoyed many, but never was fond of any of the breakfast blends, which I generally have found to be one dimensional, somewhat dull. Old South Meeting House is very refreshing in comparison; it has several different notes, and a marked sweetness. It sparkles without milk and sugar. Perfect for drinking black.

  • Upton’s description is spot on. Earthy aroma. Grassy, soil, barn. But then you notice baking chocolate. Has a surprising amount of sweetness that carries through the finish. Not astringent at all even steeped for 5 min. Overall, a very impressive brew, just not the profile I’m looking for in a morning cup.

  • I was excited to try this new blend. I prefer to drink my tea without milk, and "breakfast blend" often equates to "undrinkably astringent" to me. I was thrilled to find that this tea, steeped for just under 4 min, is delicious without milk. It has a deep color and a strong, almost molasses-like flavor, but not a hint of bitterness. Recommended!
