Place the scale on a flat, horizontal surface, such as a table.
Press ON/OFF to power on the scale. Wait until the display reads "0.00". The weigh-mode will default to the last mode used.
Press MODE to cycle through the different weigh modes (dwt, oz, g and Cupwt) until your desired weigh mode is displayed.
With the weigh mode selected, place the empty weighing container (e.g. infuser basket) on the scale and press TARE. This will "zero" the scale.
Add dry tea to the weighing container until you reach your desired amount. If measuring in CupWt mode, the display will show the number of cups to be steeped.
Note: To prevent tea leaves from accumulating beneath the scale platform, it is always best to weigh tea using some sort of vessel (e.g., infuser basket,
on a slip of paper) rather than place it directly onto the platform.
Calibrating Your Scale
Each scale is precisely calibrated at the factory. For those who wish to periodically calibrate the scale according to the
instruction manual, we offer a 200-gram calibration weight (AR45).
One can quickly (albeit informally) test their scale's calibration by weighing a dime, which will weigh roughly 1 CupWt / 2¼ grams,
with slight variances due to wear & condition.
To calibrate your scale using our calibration weight:
Place the scale on an even, sturdy surface, such as a table.
Press ON/OFF to power on the scale. Wait until the display reads "0.00".
Press & hold the UCAL key until the display reads "CAL".
The scale is now in "calibration status", and the display will return to "0.00".
Press UCAL. This will calibrate the zero-point.
After 2-3 seconds, the display will read "200.00". Place the 200g calibration weight onto the scale.
Wait 3 seconds and press UCAL.
If the calibration was successful, the scale's LCD display will read "PASS", and then "200.00". At this point your scale is ready for use again, or can be powered down.
If the display reads "EEEE", there was an error in the calibration and the process should be repeated from step 1.
