  About :

I became interested in loose-leaf tea in 2008 during a family trip to London. A cup of tea each afternoon was a welcome break from dodging raindrops and an overly ambitious sightseeing schedule. I find it remarkable that tea can offer such a diverse array of sensory experiences. As someone who had an interest in history from an early age I love how tea is quite literally steeped in it. Since discovering Upton Tea, I've come to appreciate an amazing variety of teas from around the world. I still enjoy robust Assams and breakfast blends. However, I now tend to enjoy warming up with a peppery Yunnan, taking a break with a brisk Ceylon, or relaxing with a nice cup of oolong, which can run the gamut from woody to fruity to floral depending on how the tea is processed after plucking.

    1. BH75 :  Chamillo Blend

My Mom's before bedtime favorite! Can't argue with Mom. A great chamomile based blend with citrusy nuances from the lemongrass and orange blossoms. Plus its really forgiving to brew and takes a nice long 8 minute infusion like a champ!

    2. TC31 :  Homadula Estate Ceylon FBOPF EX SP

A wonderful honey like sweetness and maple notes in the cup make this a fine example of a low grown Ceylon from the Galle area in southern Sri-Lanka. I steeped this tea for 5 minutes in boiling water which gives it a pleasingly brisk finish. An excellent value.

    3. TD98 :  Thurbo Estate FTGFOP TP/Cl Second Flush (DJ-193)

I especially like how the fruity notes and pineapple nuances in this Darjeeling mingle with a pleasing evergreen pungency. A great choice for those who like a rich fruity 2nd Flush Darjeeling with a distinctive lingering finish. Yummy!

    4. TJ18 :  Sencha Yabukita Organic #2

A wonderful Sencha, from Spring 2014 (reviewed on 8/27/14), with refreshing seagrass and spinach notes in the cup. I like to brew this one a little shorter then the recommended 3 minutes to get a perfect lustrous yellow-green infusion.

    5. ZJ97 :  Jasmine Silver Needles

Silver Needles have a mellow sweetness which pairs superbly with the scent and flavor of Jasmine. This downy Jasmine scented Chinese white tea is really delightful.

    6. ZK50 :  Keemun Xiang Luo

This superb Keemun has notes of red wine and bittersweet cocoa in the cup. Xiang luo translates as "fragrant snail" which aptly describes how the dry leaf is curled and rolled into impressive little spirals. I found this tea striking for its wonderfully rich flavor, captivating smoothness, and lingering finish. Highly recommended and a true treat for any Keemun lover.
